On Friday, April 8, Hinsbrook Landscaping, of Hinsdale, will begin clearing the Zook property of trees, shrubs and other landscaping so the house, garage-studio and yard walls can be prepared for the one-mile move south to Katherine Legge Memorial Park, 57th Street and County Line Road.

On Thursday, April 7, Jim Cunningham, a Hinsdale resident and video professional, shot footage of the property, beginning what will be ongoing documentation of the relocation of the Zook buildings and structures.

Jim will collaborate with Judith McBrien, a Chicago video producer who was referred to the Historical Society by the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois, which responded to a request by the Society earlier this week for information and/or assistance in documenting the relocation. LPCI also agreed to help fund the production. Several other contacts have been made for assistance on the documentation project.

Also on Thursday, 20 homeowners in the immediate vicinity of the Zook property received a letter from the Society informing them of the work that will take place at the site over the next three to four weeks to prepare for the move. "We believe that this effort will eventually add to the enhancement of Hinsdale as a wonderful place to live," the letter stated. It was signed by Society president Stanley "Sandy" Walton.

On Monday, April 11, Dillabaugh, Inc., house and building movers in Crown Point, Indiana, will be on site to begin the heavy, difficult and careful work of preparing the Zook buildings and structures for relocation.

Things are moving that fast, and much more remains to be done between now and about May 5 when the move must take place. Among the resources that are particularly needed now are an experienced general contractor to manage the project, PR/communications and fund raising.

We'll get it done.
