Due to COVID-19, for the health, safety and well-being of our staff and visitors, the Society has suspended public hours for the Roger and Ruth Anderson Architecture Center (302 S. Grant Street) and the Hinsdale History Museum (15 S. Clay Street) until further notice. Please check back for updates. Applications for the Plaque Program and other archival requests are still being accepted, but may be delayed/limited due to archive access. Thank you for your support of the Hinsdale Historical Society.
HINSDALE HISTORICAL SOCIETY
YOUR MEMORIES - OUR FUTURE
RECORD "TOMORROW'S HISTORY" TODAY
We need your help. The Hinsdale Historical Society’s mission is to bridge the past, present and future, which is done through documenting and educating. We are living in an interesting time that will soon be past. We are making history today, and it is our duty to record the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine for our future selves and future generations.
All ages are invited to help us by contributing pictures, videos, drawings and/or journal entries or a phone interview. Submissions can be about you, your family or a loved one.
Consider some of these prompts:
Who are you? How old are you?
Who do you live with? How has your daily routine changed? Your household’s routine?
Has your job been affected? Are you working from home? Are you an essential business that remains open?
Has social isolation/distancing changed your work? Recreation? Communication with loved ones?
Did you, or anyone you know get sick? How did you cope or prepare?
What does your quarantine workspace look like?
What is an activity you’ve been doing to keep busy?

Hinsdale Historical Society
Hinsdale Cooks! Kitchen Walk, the Society’s signature fundraiser, was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The loss of the financial support from this event is severe. The proceeds from this annual event are the primary resources that fund the organization’s operations and programming, including the preservation and maintenance of
three historic buildings - Immanuel Hall,
Hinsdale History Museum, and the R. Harold Zook Home and Studio.
Your donation will help us continue serving and supporting our community and its rich history.
Since 1975, the Hinsdale Historical Society has been THE home of Hinsdale’s history. With its mission to bridge the past, present, and future by engaging the community with its history and architecture, the Society is devoted to collecting, preserving, and promoting the history of Hinsdale, Illinois. Besides housing archives and collections containing a multitude of photos, oral histories, documents and artifacts that share the story of Hinsdale, the Society has rehabilitated and is maintaining three historic properties in the Village. The Hinsdale History Museum, Immanuel Hall, and the R. Harold Zook Home and Studio each hold significant stories to Hinsdale's unique past. The preservation of these three properties, the operation of the Roger and Ruth Anderson Architecture Center, as well as the extensive archival treasures that the Society cares for are evidence of the dedication and commitment the Society brings to Hinsdale history.
The Hinsdale Historical Society bridges the past, present and future by engaging the community with its history and architecture.
It is thanks to the generosity of our supporters that the Society is able to collect and share Hinsdale’s stories. With continued support, the Society will be able to ensure those stories are available for generations to come. Please consider supporting the Society today!
The Hinsdale Historical Society is a volunteer organization, and our volunteers are crucial to the ongoing work of the Society. There are numerous volunteer opportunities within the Society including one-time projects to leadership opportunities.
Those who are members know that engagement in the Society brings Hinsdale history alive. Join us today to be in-the-know on programs and events that celebrate the stories of our community.
